  37.     horizontal paper tray.<p>

  39.     Currently Samsung supports this printer with proprietary drivers which
  40.     come with the printer on its driver CD or can be downloaded on the web
  41.     sites of Samsung. Unfortunately, these drivers do not work necessarily
  42.     with all Linux distributions.<p>

  44.     As nearly all of Samsung's low-cost lasers use the same
  45.     proprietary printer language (during the time it eas called
  46.     SmartGDI, PrinThru, and SPL) on can also use a free Ghostscript
  47.     driver which Samsung published some time ago for the
  48.     ML-4500.<p>

  50.     They provided a Ghostscript RPM and an installer that adjusts Red
  51.     Hat's printtool or printconf-gui. There was also a PPD for
  52.     distros using CUPS (as Mandrake 7.2 or newer) and a possibility to
  53.     integrate the driver in SuSE's APS filters. For users of
  54.     other distributions/printing systems (especially the current
  55.     CUPS/Foomatic environments) appropriate Foomatic information is
  56.     provided here in the "gdi" driver entry.<p>

  58.     Stupidly, Samsung has named the driver "gdi". This name
  59.     is confusing, because the driver supports only Samsungs GDI
  60.     printers. SuSE has called it "samsunggdi", in ESP Ghostscript both
  61.     names can be used.<p>

  63.     The driver was removed from Samsung's website but a copy with
  64.     some improvements is available <a

  66.     ESP Ghostscript contains this driver.<p>
